Announcements:
- Past president Leighanne Alford presented our club with the Club Excellence Award, the most significant award a Rotary club can achieve, for 2024-25. Our club demonstrated a commitment to achieve and exceed its goals, which ultimately helps strengthen Rotary and shape our future.
- Register HERE for the District Spark Assembly September 27 in Laramie, WY – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Susan Peterson distributed maps to help Rotarians attending the Peterson Steak Fry & Fellowship. Register on email sent Aug. 30 to attend.
- Fran Lefler requested Rotarians bring hygiene products on Sept. 25 for the Early Childhood Program (diapers, laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, tooth paste and tooth brushes.
- Connie Sheltron indicated that Sept. 16 is the deadline for applications for outbound exchange students who are ages 15 to 19 by August 16 of 2026. See this LINK for information on the application process.
- Dave Haase announced that the Peach Festival increased revenue by 39% over the previous year and netted over $61,000.
Student of the Month:
Dan Saint John introduced the principal of Centennial High School, Kristin Leonard who introduced our Student of the Month, Zoie Braschers. Zoie is thriving at Centennial in math and her teachers love having her in their classes.

Good News:
- Stephen James is appreciative that Ron Catterson is making an such impact with RYLA and the Vocational Services Committee and with Connie Sheltron’s development of a city-wide Youth Exchange Program involving other Rotary clubs
- Ron Catterson was pleased to take his three children to Casa Bonita then to a Red Rocks concert
- Carrie Levy is offering free beautiful sunflowers at 8906 US 34 Johnston to Rotarians who contact her at 970-213-2428
- Walt Grady is grateful for the global grant that Marcy Woodland initiated with $5k from our club that was leveraged to $58K to help Vietnam children with heart defects
- Bob Melrose is appreciative of the outpouring of support Rotarians from our club provided during his prostate cancer treatment.

Here are some highlights of the Vocational Committee
- Centennial High School Scholarship Fund.
o Our club established an endowment scholarship fund at NOCO Foundation in 2011
o The current balance is $87,000
o The goal is to reach $100,000 by end of the year
o Each year this fund provides approximately $2500 for scholarship and our club foundation matches with $1500
o Club members can contribute to this fund to reach our goal and can reach out to John Carroll and Krishna Murthy
- Emergency funding for Centennial High school for food, gas, and temporary transportation
- Ed Gillette Vocational Service Award is presented annually to a member in recognition of excellence in their vocational field and integrity in their career as was exemplified by Dr. Gillette.
- Rotarian skills, interests and expertise are captured in ClubRunner
- Six Teacher of the Month and Student of the month per year
- Potential projects:
o Mentoring program
o Resiliency Workshop
o 4-Way Test workshop
