Chuck Rutenberg introduced Larry Glover and Sean Orner representing Buckhorn Camp & Retreat Center
- Their presentation is located HERE
- The camp is located west of Ft. Collins 381 Old Camp Rd, Bellvue near Stove Prairie School
- The camp “strives to foster a culture of kindness, acceptance, and belonging, where differences are not just accepted, but embraced as part of what makes our community stronger.”
- The Buckhorn Mountain Guest Ranch was built in 1946 by Myron and Louise Siefken in partnership with John and Josephine Smethurst. Using logs cut from the property, a lodge and twelve cabins were constructed.
- In 1979 Camp Hope was started to provide a camp experience for adults with varying levels of intellectual and physical disabilities and a break for their care givers
- Camp Hope provides worship services, hiking, horseback riding, games, spa day for the ladies, pinewood derby for the men and crawdad fishing
- In 2012, the High Park fire destroyed 1/3 of the overall property
- An additional retreat lodge was recently built and needs a wheelchair path to connect the old lodge to the new lodge
- Gary Turner, Larry Glover, Sean Orner and Chuck Rutenberg explained how our club will help create the new asphalt path between the two lodges on May 30 and 31: laying weed barrier, pounding 3x4 inch timber path trim, leveling and compacting asphalt, and squeegee a final seal coat
