PROGRAM:  Alisa Babler, Assistant City Traffic Engineer
 

-Her department installs and maintains the 192 traffic signals in Fort Collins, manage signs and pavement marking on 1,922 street lane miles.
-They also do traffic control for special events, development review, speed limits, work area traffic control, traffic couhgs, congestion studies and engineering studies. 
-Signal timing:  takes into account high thru volume, balancing pediastrians who need 3.5 feet/seconds to cross, signal coordination
-Traffic operations center can see all the intersections that have cameras and can change the lights from red to green or add time remotely. 
-You can look up FCMaps to see average daily traffic counts.
-Vision Zero:  how to work towards eliminating traffic deaths.  It is only 8% of the roads where 63% of serios crashes occur.  The program costs $211 million.  Here is the link to Vision Zero Crash Dashboard https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/5244bcd8f4164f52983baa0419253a3c
-50% of the serious crashes are motor vehicles, 20% motorcycles, 14-15% pedestrians and bicycles.   
-Work area traffic control field 3700 permits each year for construction projects. 27 more speed bumps added in 2025 and manage school zones.
-They manage snow events, special events, signal systems for MAX.
-Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS=red light tickets).  There are 21 speed corridors and 6 intersections that are monitored and were determined by crash and citation data. It is coordinated with the police dept. and CDOT

-All Rotarians and guests are welcome and encouraged to attend the International Service Committee meeting. Tuesday, March 10, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Horse & Dragon Brewing Company and via Zoom.

-Field of Honor is beginning to look for corporate sponsors for this coming Memorial Day celebration.
-Phil Murphy:  Sign up for Food Bank Friday which occurs every 3rd Friday of the month. 
-Save the date for Black Tie Bingo by Fort Collins Rotary After Work, Saturday, April 18th from 5:30 p.m. An Evening of Fun and Philanthropy with bingo, live and silent auctions, buffet dinner, music, beer and wine at Block One Events, 428 Linden St. Fort Collins. $100/person
-Four club potluck is this Sunday and will benefit Interact.  $10/family and bring food to share. 
-Be sure to let Sarah Murphy know when you are bringing visitors for breakfast.

-Joe McCarthy enjoyed telling stories at the Horse and Dragon's Sip and Tell story time.
-Marcy Woodland shared that a grant to help children with congenital heart disease in Vietnam was approved.
-Bob Melrose was happy that our club has opportunities for events like the Ghost Tour and the musical Chicago in April
-Chuck Rutenberg shared a United for Good story about a person in Guatemala who was needing help with dengue fever who googled and made connection with a CDC expert at CSU, a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Collins

Finally Home Emotions Toolkit Creation

Finally Home Emotions Toolkit are for parents to help their children correctly identify their emotions and establish calming strategies. Our kit contains eight different concrete items that assist children in emotional regulation. 

Big Emotions” Toolkits—backpacks filled with psychoeducational tools, toys, and resources to help children manage big feelings.
 

 

 


Quad Club Pot Luck

Second annual Quad Club Potluck, a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow Rotarians, their families, and friends for an evening filled with fellowship, delicious food, and community spirit.

 The event will be held at The Drake Center (802 W. Drake Rd.) on Sunday, March 1st, 2026. Doors will open at 4:45pm, with dinner served promptly at 5:00pm, followed by a short presentation by Michael Buttram of Rams Against Hunger at 6:00pm. Beer, wine, and water will be provided. The evening will conclude at 7:30pm.

This gathering is a fantastic chance to reconnect with your Rotary colleagues and celebrate our shared commitment to service. All Rotary Clubs in Fort Collins are participating, making this a truly collaborative event. Please remember to bring the food item assigned to your last name, as detailed below, to ensure a diverse and enjoyable meal for everyone.

Additionally, Breakfast Club Rotarians attending will have $10 added to their April 1st quarterly invoice, with all proceeds donated to Rams Against Hunger, a cause supported by the CSU Rotaract Club. Guests and spuses will not be charged.
