The IDEA and Fellowship committees were proud to jointly sponsor a Braver Angels Workshop for the Fort Collins Rotary Club Breakfast.
On February 9th, the club put on a Braver Angels workshop on Skills for Bridging the Divide, which gave the participants a chance to develop tools and skills for having respectful conversations that search for common ground, better understanding and appreciation of differences, and affirmation of the importance of the relationship. This workshop will be facilitated by moderators from Braver Angels (https://braverangels.org/).

A huge thanks to Meghan Norton and Mike Lewinski, the facilitators from Braver Angels, and to the Fort Collins Senior Center for all their help with the venue, as well as to all those who prepared the amazing dinner spread for the occasion!

In our current polarized political environment, many people avoid or dread political conversations with friends or family members whose politics differ from their own. They worry, rightly so, that any attempts at political discussions will devolve into arguments and acrimony, and result in hurt feelings or anger.

Braver Angels Skills for Bridging the Divide Workshops teach skills for having respectful conversations that clarify differences, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of the relationship. They also give participants a safe environment to practice those skills.
