I am originally from the Kansas City area; graduated from the University of Kansas, taught for 6 years in the Shawnee Mission School district. For several years following that, I worked for Raytheon Educational Publishing division and for Macmillan Publishing, as a professional speaker and marketing agent of textbook materials. In 1998, we moved to Wisconsin for my husband’s work. We enjoyed being in the Great Lakes area, which is well known for winter and summer outdoor activities, as well as arts and music.
In 2006, while we were living in Brookfield, WI, my husband passed away suddenly, and for the next ten years I was single mom to 2 challenging young boys who we had adopted from Achinsk, Russia in 1997. Both are now young men in their early 30’s and living in other regions of the country pursuing their interests.
I have intentionally chosen Ft. Collins as my home. Rocky Mountain National Park has always been a favorite destination for my family, and I enjoy the accessibility to RMNP that living here provides. Also, the livability of Ft. Collins is unique and impressive, offering community and a population that enjoys an active, involved lifestyle. When I’m not enjoying the abundance of available events, I hike, kayak, play pickleball and engage in the community by making new friends.
Besides the travel that my work life has encompassed, I have travelled extensively for leisure. Most recently, a hiking/kayaking adventure trip to Newfoundland.
I consistently support 3 local animal shelters, Larimer County Food Bank, and Rocky Mountain Conservancy.
I’m looking forward to using my skills and experience to be an active participant in Rotary Club Ft. Collins Breakfast. Particularly in the areas of food insecurity, the environment and in developing meaningful conversations.
